Buzet is a medieval town and it is located on a hill above the Mirna Valley. In the 15th c. during the Venetian rule, tall town walls were erected to protect from the Turks. A beautiful fountain and the parish Church of the Assumption of Mary (Crkva Uznesenja Marijina) are in the town centre. Buzet is rightfully known as the “town of truffles” because nearby forests are rich in them.
